Friend,

You know just as much as I do how important it is to keep the momentum going on bold climate action. With every passing day, the destructive force of the climate crisis stares us harder in the face.

Here in Washington state, it has been exceedingly rare to see 100-degree temperatures for days on end -- that is, until this summer. The Department of Health estimates that 112 people in our state have died from the heat. Oregon has seen a similar loss of life. I had to call a state of emergency in counties across the state as some of our roads buckled. And an estimated 1 billion shellfish perished in the Northwest during the heat dome, hurting an important industry in our region.

In the village of Lytton, British Columbia, the temperature soared to an unprecedented 121 degrees. Hours later, a fire tore through the town, decimating it.

Across the globe, the world watched with horror as historic floods tore through Europe and China, displacing more than a million people and causing hundreds of deaths. Homes collapsed. Trees were ripped from the ground. Fields and roads were washed away. Landscapes are unrecognizable.

This isn't a Hollywood movie. It's a full-blown, real-life, feel-it-in-your-bones crisis -- and Americans are counting on leaders to lead.

That's what I'm here to do. While Washington, D.C. drags its feet on climate action, Washington state is making strides. This legislative session, we've passed the Climate Commitment Act and other historic laws to reverse the course of this crisis. But there's more work to do, and our potential for progress is only as strong as the movement behind us.

So today, I'm humbly asking: Will you make a contribution before our official end-of-month deadline, so we can keep leading and showing the world what bold climate action looks like? [link removed]

Thank you for never giving up on the fight for our future.

Very truly yours,
