By now you may have heard that former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke announced his support at a recent CNN Pro-LGBT Presidential Forum for removing the tax-exempt status of any church, charity, or school that holds to the biblical truth that marriage is the union of one man and one woman.

Using the IRS, a government agency, as a weapon to bully or coerce a church or Christian organization over their biblical beliefs is simply wrong. Make no mistake, the Left’s goal is to silence and punish anyone, especially our churches, that dares to believe God’s revealed truth about marriage.
But we are not surprised! Texas Values has helped prepare for these exact types of attacks in Texas.
As I mentioned in the video, we led the way to pass the Protect Protection Law in 2015 that specifically protects the tax-exempt status of churches that hold to God’s truth about marriage.
We also helped pass the Freedom to Serve Children Act in 2017 to protect faith-based adoption agencies. And earlier this year, we led the effort to pass the Save Chick-fil-A Religious Freedom Law that further protects the rights of all Texans to donate and associate with churches and other religious organizations.
