These goals are important for a number of reasons:

CAMPAIGN RESOURCES
The amount we raise directly correlates to the scale of our grassroots organization and whether we can connect with voters before Election Day. The National GOP raised over $20 MILLION last month, outraising Democrats and the head of the NRCC vowed Washington Republicans “will take back the Majority next fall.”

OUTSIDE ATTACKS
Washington Republicans’ massive war chest is a scary prospect, especially now that three candidates have jumped into our race to challenge me. When we reach our fundraising goals, it ensures we have the financial resources to counter potential attacks.

MEANINGFUL LEGISLATION
Most important of all, reaching our goals puts us in a stronger position to send me back to the House where I can continue working to improve the lives of Marylanders. Just earlier this month, my colleagues on the House Appropriations Committee and I marked up spending bills to create new job opportunities for workers and lift up the middle class. Federal funding is a reflection of our values as a country, and right now, we have a government that’s putting working families first -- not the powerful corporate interests that dominated the Trump Administration.

I want to continue fighting for Marylanders and enacting more transformative legislation for as long as I can, but it all comes down to the engagement of grassroots supporters like you. Please consider making your first contribution of the year before the deadline on Saturday. [[link removed]]
