As educators and students prepare for the upcoming school year, Nellie Mae's Interim President and CEO, Dr. Gislaine N. Ngounou, shares in her op-ed Let's Teach the Truth that "if we’ve taken anything from the past year, it’s that our young people are demanding and asking for change in our systems and institutions. They are ready and participating in the fight for our democracy in inspiring ways." We must continue taking intentional steps to center the work and voices of our young people in and out of the classroom. We cannot go back to normalizing the decentralization of their voices. Our future depends on this.
What is the role of school boards in creating a more equitable education system? Read this story from our grantees at Prism Reports about how school boards must do better.
