Virginia is one of the two states holding gubernatorial races this year and therefore one of the first elections in a post-Trump era. Is it possible for VA Republicans to win the governor’s race? Not if New Virginia Majority’s Tram Nguyen can help it.

Since founding New Virginia Majority (NVM) and serving as its Co-Executive Director, award-winning activist Nguyen has led multi-racial, multi-issue campaigns to ensure Black and brown voters turnout in record numbers. With key partners throughout the state of Virginia, NVM has aided in significant progressive victories such as restoring civil rights to formerly incarcerated people, expanding Medicaid, and allowing immigrants to apply for driver’s licenses regardless of their status. Under Nguyen’s leadership, NVM organizers have registered nearly 300,000 new voters and knocked on over 3.1 million doors to get people of color and young people to the polls. Nguyen was also key to the Voting Rights Act of VA being created and recently passed.
