Improvements at Foxton Gardens thanks to the Grander Designs Programme!
councillors
*An impressive makeover is underway at Foxton Gardens, with an extensive refurbishment thanks to Nottingham City Homes’ Grander Designs project. *
The project has already seen some of the *communal spaces transformed, and they are now cosy, welcoming and beautifully decorated*. There is also a *new outdoor seating area*, with refurbishments to the restaurant and downstairs areas underway.
*Councillors Wendy Smith and Rebecca Langton* visited Foxton Gardens to see the progress underway. They said:
"We were so glad to be able to see the improvements underway at Foxton Gardens. *The transformation is clear, and the new facilities are beautifully designed and so cleverly implemented. We are sure that they will be well used and loved by all residents.* We are so pleased that Nottingham City Homes are investing in their existing homes in this way. Well done to the team who have done an amazing job with this project. We can't wait to see the finish product."

Ward Walks are back in Bilborough!
ward walk
*After being called off for many months due to Covid, ward walks are back up and running in Bilborough!*
These walks are a chance for you to meet us and discuss issues & concerns you have as they walk with local Councillors & council workers.
Issues raised included *bulky waste removal, overgrown front gardens, street hazards, disused garage sites, parking & off street parking, noise nuisance, resources for neighbourhood parks, waste bins. *
We are now scheduling further walks over the summer & autumn. All three local Councillors are keen that lots of local residents join in th*ese walks. It’s a chance for residents to raise issues important to them, find out more about what might be happening in their area & offer suggestions on possible improvements* & how we use our area budgets more effectively. We have just been in the Denewood area & we will be doing further Ward Walks in August, September & October.
We advertise ward walks by putting letters through doors of neighbouring streets, so look out for your Councillors in your area soon! We hope that if we’re near your street or area you will come & join us or if you struggle with mobility you will contact us & we can call on you.
*Cllr Wendy Smith, Cllr Rebecca Langton & Cllr Phil Jackson*

We hope you enjoyed Bilborough Arts Festival!
arts fest
*Bilborough Arts Festival took place at the end of June*, and featured art exhibitions, drumming workshops, line dancing, face painting, macrame and more!
Bilborough Arts Festival got off to a flying start on 26th June with a family day in the library grounds. The Festival, supported by Bilborough Councillors, began in 2016 and brings all ages together with a range of events including art, music, dance, drama, photography, film, story-telling and heritage activities.
Our launch event featured an art exhibition inside Bilborough library and artist Ella Holden painting the library shutters to showcase Nottingham's bee-friendly approach. Drumming workshops, line dancing, face painting, macrame, Cats Protection, Nottingham City Homes and the Literacy Trust all contributed towards a fun day for all.
The Lit Theatre Company launched 'Walking Stories', a year-long project to gather recollections of Bilborough, Strelley and Beechdale. [ [link removed] ]
*Saturday night featured Bilborough Fest*, a showcase for young musical talent founded by local musician Josh Sims. On Sunday the Cool Jazz quintet played at St Martin's Church. Thursday saw a heritage walk round the St Martin's area where we learned some surprising facts about the history of Bilborough and Strelley.
Although we decided on a low-key event this year because of Covid restrictions, every local school took part with their own events. We have been able to give schools the opportunity to take part in arts projects, much needed for children's mental health and wellbeing after the difficult lockdown months.

*We'd love you to get involved in planning the 2022 festival - get in touch via the website.*
