In states all over the country, redistricting hearings are finally getting underway. This is the moment we’ve been preparing for since the NDRC launched in early 2017 -- and while it’s exciting, we have a TON of work to do to ensure we have fair maps for the next decade!
Here’s just some of what we’re working on to make sure Republicans aren’t able to draw themselves into unearned majorities for another ten years:
- Monitoring redistricting hearings in key states around the country and analyzing proposed maps
- Mobilizing grassroots supporters to testify in favor of fair maps
- Shining a bright light on Republicans’ attempts to manipulate the process
- Preparing to support plaintiffs in lawsuits to protect the redistricting process
It’s a big undertaking, but it’s all in service of one mission: To ensure fair maps around the country so that our democracy finally works for everyone. Because if we can stop Republicans from simply drawing themselves into the majority, our elected representatives will be much more likely to actually respond to voters’ needs.
