Day of Action success! ??

day of action

On Wed 7 July, Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire Police, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue and Nottingham City Homes joined together *to tackle the issues that you have said are a problem in your neighbourhood.*

In part of the Forest Fields area we weeded, swept, litter-picked, visited private-rented properties,* spoke to residents about issues, carried out 5 fire safety checks on the day and have another 12 booked in, issued 14 notices for bins left on street, and 2 fines for litter.*

We also spoke to parents about* inconsiderate parking and engine idling around Forest Fields Primary School*. We ended the day with activities for children at the Community Centre accompanied by information stalls on health, employment, housing and fire safety.

We will continue to work together to improve the issues that are important to you. For further information or to suggest any other ideas or locations for the next Day of Action please contact Leigh Plant, Neighbourhood Development Officer on 07701 049987 or any of the Councillors.

meso
food bank

*Mesopotamia*, a local charity based in New Basford have been delivering food parcels on a weekly basis for up to 280 people in need. It is the time of volunteers and the generosity of donations of food items that enables this to happen every Saturday.

Rachel Miller, Founder/director says “The funding from the ward Councillors contributed to building our Foodbank premises. This has enabled us to play a vital role in supporting our local community through difficult times”

*If you would like to volunteer there are roles from helping to sort out food right through to making deliveries. Please telephone 0115 9780 444 [ tel:01159780444 ] for further information.*

Supporting children in school during Covid Crisis

game

At the request of a Headteacher, Councillors funded board games for each year group across our four Primary Schools.

This supported play whilst allowing the children to be socially distanced and safe.

Our local partners, The Pythian Club also distributed activity packs to children at home whilst schools were closed.
