Please welcome your MGP 2021-2022 Officers!



Below are the official election results for our Maryland Green Party officers. 



- Co-Chairs: Mary Rooker and Olivia Romano

- Recording Secretary: Katherine Mays

- Treasurer: Devonie Doles

- Membership Coordinator: Matt Hand and Justin Sindall



- Delegates: Ashley Esposito, Margaret Flowers, Mary Rooker

- Alternate Delegates: Devonie Doles, Olivia Romano, and None of the Above





MGP is considering how to handle potentially filling the “none of the above” winner for alternate delegate. We hope to engage in internal dialogue around that.



As is our party's practice, these results were presented by our outgoing co-chairs, Jon Cook and Virginia Rodino. We acknowledge disagreement in the tabulation of votes for the contested multi-seat races. Conflicting counting procedures were posted, so we called in non-partisan experts with the League of Women Voters, FairVote, and the national Green Party. Fortunately we were assured that our ballots were very sound, as were the tabulation rules printed on each voter's ballot: 



“Results will be determined by ranked-choice voting and single transferable vote. You may rank as many or as few choices as you wish (i.e. if there are three candidates, you can assign ranks of 1, 2, and 3 or only 1 and 2 or 1 only)”



This experience has strengthened our understanding of ranked choice voting (RCV). Among the lessons learned is the need to define our voting procedures more precisely.

Exciting activities are being planned for this year. We’re working with locals to lift up local issues with special events, speakers, direct actions and more. As one of your co-chairs, I look forward to building our party with Liv and our new team of officers. Given that we’re The Party with real solutions to our multiple crises -- systemic racism, general wealth inequality, and the climate catastrophe -- this is our time.
