John, my friend and colleague Congresswoman Val Demings was the first woman to become Orlando's Chief of Police — now, she’s running against Marco Rubio for the U.S. Senate.

Val’s father was a janitor, her mother was a maid, and she’s spent her life working hard for Florida and against injustice. You may remember her tremendous work leading the House’s impeachment inquiry against President Trump.

We need leaders like Val Demings in the U.S. Senate who will put others ahead of her own needs, ones that will keep a level head in times of crisis so that we can get through them stronger.
