Dear John,

I've spoken with folks from across Delaware, and it's clear that people had been struggling to make ends meet long before the COVID-19 pandemic began. The deadly virus and economic crisis only exacerbated the hardships families were already facing.

Part of the problem is that support from the federal government has been lagging for the past 40 years. It's past time workers, small businesses, and families get the help and resources they need to succeed.

That's why I'm thrilled to join a bipartisan, bicameral group in introducing the Rebuilding Economies and Creating Opportunities for More People Everywhere to Excel Act (RECOMPETE Act). The RECOMPETE Act will help create economic opportunity in distressed communities by providing flexible, 10-year federal grants.

Grants could be used for infrastructure investments, brownfield redevelopment, workforce development, small business assistance, resources to connect residents to opportunities, and other investments to help communities rebuild.

The RECOMPETE Act is part of our goal to rebuild our country back better -- not just to return to pre-pandemic "normalcy." The RECOMPETE Act will have a positive impact in places across our country and ensure we do a better job of protecting workers and communities so that no one gets left behind.

This legislation is a bold step forward in rebuilding back better and stronger, and I need to know I have your support, John. Will you sign on as a citizen co-sponsor of the RECOMPETE Act?
