** ⭐️ Words From a Trevor supporter
------------------------------------------------------------
“I love The Trevor Project, and how they share statistics that are important. People that are close to me know that I have had their logo tattooed over my heart since 2011 because, when I came out as a closeted athlete playing competitively in college, the people at Trevor helped me get through one of the darkest periods of my life. I’ll always be grateful and thankful for their work.”

** 🧡 Reflecting On BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
We know based on the work we do every day that LGBTQ young people of color face unique stressors, challenges, and social stigma as the holders of multiple marginalized identities. While we advocate for and celebrate BIPOC LGBTQ young people every day, it’s important to recognize that July is Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Mental Health Awareness Month.
This BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, The Trevor Project collaborated with several of its favorite talent supporters who are LGBTQ people of color to offer advice to youth on how to navigate the intersections of their identities and protect their mental health.

** 📊 The Diversity of Nonbinary Youth
------------------------------------------------------------

Our July research brief found that 1 in 4 LGBTQ youth we surveyed identified as nonbinary — and they’re using a wide variety of labels and pronouns to describe the nuances of their gender outside of the traditional binary construction of exclusively male or female. These findings underscore the need for policies and practices that affirm nonbinary youth in their identities, such as respecting their pronouns and allowing them to change their name and/or gender marker on legal documents like driver’s licenses and birth certificates. These simple measures can be life-saving.

** 🏛️ Trevor Applauds MN Gov. for Protecting LGBTQ Young People From Conversion Therapy
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
In July, The Trevor Project commended Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for signing an executive order that prohibits taxpayer dollars and health insurance plans from covering the dangerous and discredited practice of conversion therapy.
“Taxpayer dollars should never be spent on the dangerous and discredited practice of conversion therapy. Thank you to Governor Tim Walz for taking bold action to protect LGBTQ youth in Minnesota. We encourage more governors across the country to follow the North Star State and restrict this abusive practice disguised as therapy.”
– Sam Brinton (they/them), Vice President of Advocacy and Government Affairs for The Trevor Project.
