Yesterday, the U.S. House select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol insurrection convened to hear harrowing testimony from Capitol Police and D.C. Metro Police about their experiences during the attack. Four officers shared graphic details of their encounters with violent, armed rioters who were attempting to subvert our elections at the urging of then-President Trump.

The House Republicans who voted to overturn the results of the election have continued to lead an assault on our democracy by putting all of their energy into blocking any investigation of that day. They spread the Big Lie about the election and are complicit in inciting the January 6 attack, which they now want to sweep under the rug.

These representatives are not fit to serve in Congress. That’s exactly why we need your help protecting the Democratic majority in the House, by supporting the Democrats running in competitive districts in the 2022 midterms.

When we announced our new Resistance to Persistence strategy last month, we knew it had to focus beyond 2021 and 2022. We developed a 10-year plan focused on protecting democracy because this moment demands it—the threat posed by the anti-democracy GOP is real and happening right now. Not only are Republicans refusing to hold Capitol attackers responsible for trying to subvert our 2020 elections, across the country Republicans are working to suppress votes and destroy the integrity of future elections. We have to stop them, and we need to do it together.
