Get vaccinated now to be ready for autumn events

Thank you to everyone who has come forward to get their Covid-19 vaccination. The City Council has worked hard with the NHS to make it as quick and easy as possible to get this vital protection from coronavirus. For example, as well as all of main vaccination sites, we also have a pop-up clinic offering the Pfizer vaccine in the Karimia Institute on Berridge Road, Forest Fields on Saturday from 11am to 3pm with appointments available to walk-in or also to book: [link removed] [ [link removed] ]. The vaccination bus will also be parked outside Asda in Hyson Green on Friday from 10.30am to 3.30pm ? another great opportunity to grab a Pfizer jab while out doing your weekly food shop.

Those who are double-jabbed not only protect themselves and others, but they will also be ready for whatever happens with possible vaccination passports in the autumn ? such as for big events, football matches or nightclubs. There is still time to be ready for this: it takes ten weeks from your first jab to getting full protection (eight weeks between doses plus two weeks for full immunity) so why not start the ball rolling today? More electric vans on offer to local businesses

We?re really pleased to be able to offer nine Toyota Proace electric vans for businesses and organisations to try as part of our Electric Van Experience [ [link removed] ].

The scheme, funded by Highways England, is an opportunity for businesses to see how making the switch to a greener vehicle could save them money, and give them the confidence to make the change permanently. The aim is to help reduce harmful emissions and support the city?s ambition to become carbon neutral.

There?s a range of vans on offer to suit different needs, and the new Toyota vans make a great addition. They?ll be maintained by Nottingham Electric Vehicle Services (NEVS), our ULEV service centre, where all electric vehicle owners can also get MOTs, servicing and repairs.

Housing licensing protecting tenants in Nottingham

Our ambitious Selective Licensing scheme has reached its mid-way point and is proving to help protect tenants and improve private rented housing. We want to thank all the good landlords in this city, who licence their properties and make sure they are safe for tenants.

The licence shows tenants that their property meets safety and quality standards set out in the conditions of the licence. It means tenants have better quality accommodation and they know what to expect from their landlord in terms of the maintenance, safety and management of their home.

We have carried out a mid-way review of the scheme and some key successes include over?600?properties inspected and over?270?improved through inspections, over?1100?external inspections during Covid-19 restrictions in 2020/21 and over?1700?hazards in houses identified by our accreditation partners.

Former Care home to become temporary housing for families in crisis

Laura Chambers Lodge in Clifton

As a ban on evictions, in force during the pandemic, is lifted and the lockdown starts to impact jobs and livelihoods, the need for temporary accommodation for families is expected to increase in the next year. Last week, the Executive Board approved plans to enable Nottingham City Homes to buy a former care home, Laura Chambers Lodge, and convert the building into self-contained flats to temporarily house families who are in a crisis. ?The families will stay there until the crisis is dealt with, when they can then move to permanent settled accommodation.

As well as providing well-managed and suitable facilities for families, there will be a financial saving to the council by reducing the need to provide expensive Bed and Breakfast or Nightly Paid temporary accommodation.
