Hey Team Nika,
GREAT news on the health front. I have been discharged from post-concussion recovery therapy! What a great birthday present after 9 months of hard work.
In other great news, the Boston University Spark Team presented to Housing Committee Co-Chair Arciero the affordable housing research we’ve been working on for 2 ½ years in support of my public housing expansion bill. He LOVED the detailed data breaking down the distribution of transit friendly affordable development opportunities in each House District.
BU Spark is directed by JP Progressive’s own Ziba Cranmer. This is just one example of how 15th Suffolk constituents and partners make Team Nika work smarter, actionable and more effective. Because of your partnership the House of Reps is growing as I do.
In just one week, we partnered with the Women’s Bar Association and colleagues with deep experience in Economic Development and Civil Rights to present on labor protections for DV survivors and the need to redefine “family” to address the special needs of unconventional families often overlooked by the law. In learning sessions, we reviewed the basics of financing and capitalization for a public bank and strategized how to develop policy analysis frameworks for race equity.
Our list of Team Nika's Bills and Advocacy Partners is more than words on a page or advocacy opportunities. It’s the basis for dynamic learning opportunities that lead to meaningful collaboration and action! This is how change is made “in the building.” We work smart. We work together.
Looking to August, I’m gearing up for summer recess, focusing on getting back into the District and meeting constituent needs. Please chip in today and continue to help advance Team Nika's work in the State House and in the community!
Nika
