Thank you to everyone who took our priorities survey this past week. I am grateful that so many of you took the time to share your priorities and I am invigorated to take your fights to the frontlines of Congress.
Thank you to the many of you who took my recent priorities survey. I am so grateful that folks from across the country took time out of their day to share their priorities with me and my team.
We learned so much about our supporters after reviewing the results. But one thing became very clear after reading through them: Our current systems are not working for most Americans.
I want to promise you that I am doing all I can to change that. If you would like to support my work to bring your fights to the frontlines of Congress, please chip in what you can today to help support our movement.
As you probably know, I love diving into data, so please indulge me as I share a few statistics from our survey that really stood out to me:
- A whopping 95% of our survey takers listed “Addressing Climate Change” among the top issues they want me to fight for. This, unfortunately, isn’t surprising to me – climate change has been the top topic on our past few surveys, as well. And with the endless wildfires and flooding happening across the world, we all need to do all we can to safeguard our environment for the new century. In Congress, I’ll continue to prioritize this fight and support a Green New Deal.
- Coming in second, 77% of our supporters listed racial justice as a top issue. The work we can do to help build racial justice in our systems and communities encompases many issue areas, from closing the racial wealth gap to addressing climate change to legalizing marijuana. I’m proud to continue the many fights that bring us closer towards racial justice.
- Just a few votes behind was increasing gun safety, an issue that is a huge priority for me and my team, especially following the San Jose shooting that took place earlier this year in my district. Congress has not done nearly enough to help mitigate the horrors of gun violence, and I am committed to push us towards passing national background checks, banning ‘ghost guns,’ and introducing other gun violence prevention legislation.
Reading through all your responses and the passionate support for so many of these important issues reminded me why I’m in this fight. Like I said, I will not rest until we get our country back on the right track and working for all Americans.
Are you with me?
