This morning the January 6th Commission began its investigation into the insurrection with powerful firsthand testimony from four American heroes: DC Metropolitan Police Officers Daniel Hodges and Michael Fanone, and Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn and Sergeant Aquilino Gonell.

Reliving the events in excruciating detail was a brutal reminder of just how violent the mob was, and how determined they were to kidnap or kill any elected official they could get their hands on. Most terrifyingly, however, all four law enforcement officials spelled out just how close the insurrectionists were to succeeding in overturning the election. When explaining why he never fired a shot, Officer Hodges said:


“I was wondering how many more bombs are there? How many guns are there...if we start firing, is that the signal to set off the explosives? If that turned into a firefight, we would have lost and this was a fight we couldn't afford to lose. "
What would our country look like today if Capitol and DC police had failed? Would Donald Trump illegally occupy the Oval Office? Would Democrats still control the House and Senate? How would the military have responded? Would the 2022 midterm elections still be proceeding as planned?

Thanks to the sacrifice of these four patriots and their colleagues we don’t have to answer those questions...yet. But until there is accountability for Trump, The 147, and anybody else who organized and coordinated the insurrection at the highest levels, any close election will be an opportunity for the seditionists to learn from their mistakes and try again.
