John,
There is no debate. There is no safe level of lead in drinking water.
Any amount of lead in our drinking water can have devastating, lifelong health effects on children, harming brains and nervous systems, causing learning disabilities, and impairing hearing.
It is inexcusable that in the United States, the richest country in the history of the world, hundreds of thousands of our children continue to drink water from lead service lines in their homes and schools. That must change!
The Senate is negotiating to vote on a bipartisan infrastructure package. It’s up to us to ensure that this or any other infrastructure bill includes $100 billion in funding to replace lead service lines. The president has called for this in his American Jobs Plan. Now it’s time for Congress to act!
Chip in $5 to CHN today to demand the Senate include critical funding to replace lead service lines in the infrastructure package being voted on as early as this week.
We have an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and families in every single state. That’s why, already, we’ve directed nearly 15,000 letters to Congress, demanding this be a top priority.
There are narrow margins in the House and the Senate. So, it’s critical that we continue to apply pressure to Congress to make bold investments in our children and in our communities. And we are going to make sure they are paid for by finally making the rich and corporations pay their fair share in taxes.
Donate $5 or more today to make sure Congress understands that clean, safe drinking water is a human right.

Despite the overwhelming evidence of health dangers, 6 million to 10 million lead service lines remain in our communities, some of which are more than a century old.
Here is what we are fighting for: President Biden’s American Jobs Plan would remove all lead service lines delivering drinking water to homes in all 50 states at no direct cost to the homeowner; get people back to work and create good-paying jobs removing lead service lines; expedite removal of lead service lines in low-income communities and communities of color suffering disproportionately from lead-contaminated water; begin to address lead contamination in school drinking water; and make drinking water infrastructure across the country stronger and more resilient in the face of climate change-driven extreme weather.
John, if you agree there is no safe level of lead in our drinking water, chip in $5 or more today so we can keep the pressure on Congress to fix our crumbling water infrastructure and keep our children safe!
Thank you for all you do to demand accountability from our political leaders and to fight for the needs of all people, regardless of ZIP code.
