ACTION NEEDED NOW: CONTACT THE SDLP TO STOP WESTMINSTER ABORTION LAW

We are urgently calling on the SDLP to step up and support the recall of Stormont this Monday to stop Westminster's horrific abortion law. If Stormont is reconvened on Monday 21st October, the cruel and extreme legislation from Westminster will NOT be imposed on Northern Ireland. 

For this to happen, the power rests with the assembly speaker - not the secretary of state - and they must receive a request from at least 30 MLAs to have the assembly recalled.

The DUP has 28 MLAs, but the speaker (currently the DUP's Robin Newton) cannot sign a petition for the assembly to be recalled. Therefore, THREE MLAs from other parties would need to back the proposal too. Independent unionist MLA Claire Sugden tweeted that she would back such a move.

However, we NEED pro-life SDLP MLAs to take their seats THIS MONDAY to stop abortion up to 7 months becoming a devastating reality in Northern Ireland. We are urging YOU to CONTACT your SDLP MLAs (many of whom have told voters they are pro-life) to ASK THEM TO ACT and take their seats.

Tell your SDLP MLA that they cannot sit on their hands but that they must agree to sit at Stormont on Monday to stop this law. The power to stop this cruel and extreme abortion law is in the hands of our MLAs, including those in the SDLP who have promised to protect unborn babies in NI.
