Monopoly power is out of control in industries across the economy –- "from cat food to caskets," as Amy likes to say. This results in fewer choices and higher prices –- so Amy is taking action. She's introduced major bipartisan bills that would do things like give key government agencies more resources to enforce antitrust rules and help news organizations negotiate with tech platforms.

Monopolies have a long history in the U.S., but we used to have effective tools to deal with them. Those tools no longer work as well, so we need updated legislation to take on anti-competitive practices and promote competition.

It's a matter of fairness and helping people. When a pharmaceutical company can raise the cost of a life-saving drug sky-high simply because they have a monopoly, that's a problem.
