Empirical evidence shows that the greatest domestic threat to our country is white supremacist violence. As our government seeks to address this threat, it is critical that law enforcement and national security agencies apply the same standards irrespective of the ethnicity or religion of perpetrators. The double standards applied in the past have disproportionally targeted communities of color and subjected them to unnecessary surveillance and harassment. Muslims who commit acts of mass violence are often linked to foreign terror organizations and prosecuted accordingly, while white counterparts are not, despite ample evidence pointing to the global nature of white supremacy.
Emgage and MPAC have developed this report for Congress, the Biden Administration, as well as the public at large, as a resource to effectively combat white supremacist domestic terrorism, while protecting the rights and liberties of Black, Brown, and Muslim Americans. Pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act - The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, which aims to end racial & religious profiling by law enforcement, ban chokeholds & no-knock warrants, limit military equipment & require body cameras, hold police accountable in court, investigate police misconduct, and much more, passed the House of Representatives in March of this year. Now, it must be passed in the Senate.
Pass the NO BAN Act in the Senate - The NO BAN Act, which will rescind Trump's Muslim Ban and amend the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) to ensure that future administrations do not enact discriminatory bans again, was passed by the House of Representatives in April of this year.
