Dear John,
Hope you're well.
I'm emailing with a request to help us out with doorknocking this August, a reminder about our shop, and some updates from the national party with the latest from City Hall Greens in the postscript.
Doorknocking in August
On the 1st and 3rd weekends of August, the West Central London Green Party will be looking to engage with voters using short questionnaires.
This will take the form of a 60 second survey, asking voters to tell us what they think the most pressing issues are in our target wards in Hammersmith and Kensington.
For those who have volunteered with us before, the process will be much the same as leafleting, but requiring a little bit of face to face time with the recipients. Your local coordinators will run through this with you on the day and give you a handy script!
This is a great opportunity to engage with the local community so please join us on one or both of these weekends to meet the voters and get them excited about our Green candidates for local council.
Please sign up here if you can come along to knock on doors. If you can only make a different time, please sign up and we'll work out an alternative time with you.
WCL Shop
Please check out the Green Party branded products in our shop - tote bags (great for carrying leaflets and 60 second surveys!), double layered fabric face coverings and badges both small and large.
All profits go towards our campaigning.
National Green Party - have your say
Two internal elections are currently underway. If you're a Green Party member, this is your chance to have your say on the running of our party.
The Green Party Executive is responsible for the day to day running of the party and are elected ahead of each year's Autumn conference. Details of who is running, interviews and details about hustings they took part in are on the Bright Green website.
Voting opens on 2nd August and closes on 31st August. You can vote online using the link sent to you or by post. If you wish to vote by post, please email [email protected] as a matter of urgency, or phone 020 3691 9400 during office hours.
As you may have heard, both Jonathan Bartley and Sian Berry have stepped down, with Sian continuing as acting leader until these elections are completed. As a local party, we wish them well and want to say a huge thank you for their hard work and the successes they have led us to in the last few years' elections. Both will continue to work hard as members of the party with Sian continuing the great work she is doing as a London Assembly Member.
Yesterday, nominations opened to find new leaders for our party. Details can be found on the members only site. Please check your email for one from Claire Nash who is acting as the Electoral Returning Officer for the Leadership Election. Voting will take place between 31st Aug - 21st Sept 2021.
All Green Party members are eligible to vote and I would encourage you to check you're receiving the relevant emails so you can keep up to date with both elections and vote in them. If you don't think you're receiving these emails and voting links, please log this with the Support site. Likewise if you need help setting up your password for the members site.
Ways to help locally
With the campaign to get Colin Murphy and Fabian Frenzel elected next May, we've always got plenty of work for willing volunteers! In particular at the moment, we'd love to hear from people who could help out with data entry and/or social media. Just email me and we can have a chat!
best wishes and look forward to seeing many of you knocking on doors on 7th or 21st August!
