Many of our longtime NALpistas will remember Abdullah Hammoud, a Michigan State Representative and member of our Elected Officials Network. He is a transformational leader, and has been a voice for immigrants and marginalized communities who have faced economic and environmental injustice while in office. He is running for Mayor of Dearborn to bring social, racial, economic, and environmental justice to his hometown.

Michigan State Representative Alex Garza made history as the youngest and first person of Mexican descent to serve on the Taylor City Council in 2013. Now, he’s ready to make history again. After two terms in the Michigan State House, he’s running for Mayor of Taylor. Rep. Garza will be a voice for marginalized communities by bringing transparency, accountability, and inclusivity to City Hall.

Kamal Alsawafy is a first generation Iraqi American, NAL alum, and life-long Dearborn resident and advocate, who’s running for the Dearborn City Council. His vision of change for Dearborn includes equity for immigrant communities.

Andrés Portela is a Puerto Rican community organizer and public servant who’s running for the Tucson City Council to represent Ward 6. Andrés is the voice and leader that Tucson needs, which is why we're proud to endorse him!
