John, President Biden has called new attempts to suppress voting “Jim Crow on steroids” and “an assault on who we are as Americans.” But his words are not enough. For weeks, he has refused to call for an end to the filibuster that is blocking critical voting rights legislation from going to a vote in the Senate. If Biden hopes to succeed with the agenda that the American people voted for and desperately need, he too must abandon political caution and use all of the tools and power of the presidency to do what's right for Americans and for the future of American democracy. “We have the means. We just need to show the will—the will to save and strengthen our democracy,” President Biden said in his speech in Philadelphia this month. He must heed his own call to action before it’s too late.
