Yesterday was day 3 of my walk across the Granite State — walking in the shoes of New Hampshirites. My walk began at 6:15 AM sharp! My company for the day was a Christian Science Monitor reporter.

At 8:00 AM, I spoke with the Dublin School. I told them that it is they who will continue to make our country prosper for generations to come.

From Dublin I walked onward, as did another woman from Dublin before me. Her name was Granny D, and she walked across the continental United States in protest of Citizens United. When I was in Congress, I brought the first legislation to the floor to combat the effects of Citizens United. From Dublin to Peterborough, I felt was walking in Granny D's shoes.

Once in Peterborough, I had an interview at the Post & Beam brewing company. This small business is rather remarkable. The building the brewery is in is an old G.A.R. Hall. G.A.R. being an abbreviation for "Grand Army of the Republic." Similar to the VFWs of today, veterans of the Civil War would meet at G.A.R. halls. Being a veteran and the former vice-chair of the small business committee in Congress, I felt a sense of pride being inside that Post & Beam brewery. Or maybe that was the beer :)

Later that evening, I met with the people of Peterborough and media including the Guardian at the public library. Interestingly, this was the first tax-supported public library in America. We spoke about the proper role of Government in today's society.
Next I drove to Goffstown, then Windham, to speak with local Democrats. We were sure to finish talking in time for the debate. I must say I felt bad for those local Democrats. I heard that the political appetizer was of higher quality than the evening's entreé!
