Welcome to Tuesday, July 27th, introverts and extroverts...

The House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol is scheduled to hold its first hearing Tuesday morning with police testifying about their experience.

You can watch the hearing live here beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Over 140 law enforcement officers were injured during the Capitol riot when they confronted a mob that stormed the Capitol to interrupt the certification of the Electoral College vote.

Over 500 people have been arrested and charged with crimes stemming from the riot according to Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Two Senate committees released a bipartisan report in June, which found that numerous intelligence failures and lax security preparation contributed to the events of January 6.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced Sunday that she named Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) to serve on the January 6th committee.

Pelosi noted in a statement that Kinzinger is an Air Force veteran, serves in the Air National Guard, and “brings great patriotism to the Committee’s mission: to find the facts and protect our Democracy.”

Kinzinger said in a statement:

“I’m a Republican dedicated to conservative values, but I swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution ― and while this is not the position I expected to be in or sought out, when duty calls, I will always answer.”

Kinzinger joins Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) as the second GOP lawmaker to be appointed to the select committee by Pelosi.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) McCarthy criticized Cheney and Kinzinger as being “Pelosi Republicans” for accepting the Democratic speaker’s offer.

Do you agree with Pelosi adding Kinzinger to the January 6th select committee?
