Idaho's barbaric new laws threaten 90% of the state's wolves.

And it gets worse. The state's unlimited hunting season and expanded use of traps and snares also threatens endangered species like grizzly bears and lynxes.

Idaho's long-standing war on wolves is at a new low. Wolf-killing is now allowed year-round, even when wolves are denning, and the state has approved the use of more painful strangulation snares.

It's disgusting — and those kinds of snares could unintentionally claim victims beyond wolves, including bears and lynxes.

We're mounting a new challenge to these new laws. The state has a clear legal and moral responsibility to protect wildlife like bears and lynxes -- not make it easier for them to be killed.

Sadly these brutal new laws also embolden like-minded anti-wolf forces in a race to see who can be the most cruel.

Last month Montana passed legislation that could lead to the slaughter of more than 85% of the state's wolves. Trappers may now be able to snare multiple wolves, and the state's trapping season has been expanded by four weeks. We've initiated legal action in that state as well.

We're doing everything we can to fight these wolf-haters head-on, and to make sure other species don't get slaughtered along the way.

We'll keep up our fights in Idaho and wherever else wolves and other species are put in danger.
