Monday Nature Mystery

We are pleased to announce the winner of our Monday Nature Mystery, Bari GreenfieldPlease email us your snail mail address and preference for a hat or tote bag to: [email protected]

Congratulations to Bari for correctly identifying the nest of a Red-eyed Vireo (Vireo olivaceus) as our Monday Nature Mystery. According to Nests, Eggs, and Nestlings of North American Birds, their nests are constructed with vine bark, birch, grasses and rootlets. They bind them with webbing from spiders and caterpillars. Red-eyed Vireos lay 3-5 white eggs. Both parents incubate and raise the young which fledge about 12 days after hatching.
