Monday Nature Mystery

Congratulations to Bari for correctly identifying the nest of a Red-eyed Vireo (Vireo olivaceus) as our Monday Nature Mystery. According to Nests, Eggs, and Nestlings of North American Birds, their nests are constructed with vine bark, birch, grasses and rootlets. They bind them with webbing from spiders and caterpillars. Red-eyed Vireos lay 3-5 white eggs. Both parents incubate and raise the young which fledge about 12 days after hatching.
