The results are in: With 83% of votes cast in favor, MoveOn members in Wisconsin have voted overwhelmingly to endorse Democrat Mandela Barnes for U.S. Senate!
First, let us tell you about Mandela. Mandela grew up in one of the most incarcerated and poorest ZIP codes in the country. The proud son of a union teacher and union auto worker, Mandela has fought for working families as a state representative, and today he is fighting for progressive change as Wisconsin's lieutenant governor. Throughout his career, Mandela has been on the front lines pushing progressive policies, and he's championed criminal justice reform, racial justice, workers' rights, and affordable health care.
There are more than 150,000 MoveOn members in Wisconsin. Here are just a few reasons some local MoveOn members are supporting Mandela as the Democratic nominee to defeat Ron Johnson and help hold and expand the Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate:
