Over the past 75 years, our Party has worked to improve the lives of all Australians.
Dear John,
75 years ago today, Robert Menzies wrote in his diary:
“New party: ‘The Liberal Party of Australia’.”
Over the past 75 years, our Party has worked to improve the lives of all Australians.
The Liberal Party, in coalition with the then Country Party, presided over Australia’s post-war expansion.
Between 1949 and 1972, Australia’s economy tripled in size, while millions more Australians became home owners.
Our Party delivered important social reforms, including dismantling the White Australia policy and the 1967 referendum for Indigenous Australians.
We have taken action to protect our environment, for example by declaring the Great Barrier Reef a marine park. Today, we’re banning the export of waste plastic, paper, glass and tyres and building Australia’s recycling industry.
Liberals deliver nation building infrastructure – from the Snowy Scheme, to Snowy 2.0, to major road projects and a new airport for Western Sydney.
Strong economic management is part of the Liberal Party’s DNA.
Under the stewardship of John Howard and Peter Costello (1996 to 2007): 2.2 million more jobs were created; Labor’s $96 billion debt was repaid; and landmark tax reform was delivered.
Since 2013, over 1.4 million jobs have been created. Tax relief has been delivered for workers and small businesses. This year, for the first time since 2008, the Budget is returning to surplus.
With a stronger economy, we can guarantee record funding for schools, hospitals, medicines, roads and the NDIS.
Coalition governments make the right calls when it comes to our security.
In 1951 the Menzies Government signed the ANZUS Treaty, which remains the cornerstone of our security.
After the Port Arthur massacre in 1996, John Howard and Tim Fischer showed courage in delivering national firearm legislation.
Our Government is now undertaking the biggest investment of our defence force since WW2. We are strengthening our security agencies and keeping our borders secure.
Unlike our opponents, the Liberal Party is not owned by any section of the community. Our Party governs for all Australians.
With your support, we will continue to fight for and deliver for all Australians.
Sincerely,
Scott Morrison
Prime Minister of Australia
