Friend,

We wanted to send along a quick update on the impactful work Josh and his team at the Department of Justice are doing for the people of North Carolina. Here’s what they’ve been up to lately:

Josh led the negotiations for the second largest state settlement in the history of the country — a $26 billion agreement with opioid distributors and Johnson & Johnson. North Carolina will receive approximately $750 million to help provide treatment and recovery services to those battling opioid addiction. This is a crucial step in ensuring North Carolinians are getting the help they need.

Josh and his office made North Carolina the first state to successfully hold vaping company JUUL accountable for its dangerous role in spiking teen use of e-cigarettes. This is a major win in the fight against teen vaping and nicotine addiction. And as the father of two teenagers and a young adult, Josh knows what this victory means for families across our state.

Josh announced that the North Carolina State Crime Lab achieved a new record of DNA database hits in the fiscal year 2020-2021. Continuing to swiftly test evidence — and helping law enforcement close cases — is key to keeping North Carolina families safe.

While Josh is coming through for us, we need to come through for him. There will be many more tough challenges ahead, and we need to make sure Josh has the resources to keep up this important work.

Anything you’re able to pitch in today will help him do just that:

We’re proud of the work Josh has done and we know you are, too. Thanks for being on this team.
