I want to take a moment to tell you why running for Congress is so personal for me.

I am a Black man who became a law enforcement officer, prosecutor, and now, civil rights attorney. My story is just one of many examples that Black and brown communities face every day.

When I was just 19 years old, I experienced a racial profiling incident that changed my life forever — I was shot at, beat, and falsely arrested by plainclothes police officers.

I knew something had to change.

I dedicated my career to creating change in law enforcement and advocating for racial justice. Now, after decades of fighting for victims and survivors, I am ready to bring my passion and experience to the halls of Congress. But I need your help.

I am not your typical candidate for federal office, John. I speak from experience. I’ve seen first-hand where our communities struggle, and I’ll make sure our struggles are heard in Congress.
