“Extreme heat” warnings in the UK. Devastating floods across central Europe, India and China [1]. A “fire cloud the size of New York” in Oregon. [2]

This is reality in July 2021. We are in the midst of a climate and nature crisis - and in just 100 days, politicians from across the globe will meet in Glasgow to decide what to do about it.

With 100 days until world leaders gather at the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, do you think Boris Johnson is doing enough to make sure the summit is a success?

This UN climate summit - COP26 - is absolutely critical. It’s where countries agree plans for cutting emissions, with the aim of keeping warming below a 1.5 degree rise in temperature. It’s a summit that should be about action, not just words. 

As our government is hosting, it means what Boris Johnson’s team does in the next 100 days - what actions they take and what plans they unveil - will have a huge impact on the global fight against climate change. 

So John, do you think Boris Johnson will rally the world to action, or will he end up as a bit-part player? What areas do you think the world should focus on for reducing emissions - and what kind of campaigning do you think Greenpeace should do around the summit? With all the turmoil and trauma of the Covid-19 pandemic over the last eighteen months, it’s understandable that COP26 hasn’t received the same level of media attention as it perhaps would have. But if we’re really going to have a green recovery, and avoid complete climate breakdown, the next 100 days couldn’t be more important.
