With the removal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan approaching in September, Afghan interpreters who aided our troops are in serious danger.

This is important:

We are running out of time to get Afghan interpreters who aided U.S. troops out of danger before we withdraw from Afghanistan in September.

Watch my interview with Rachel Maddow to learn more about the dangers facing these interpreters. America owes them so much -- we have to take them too.

Many Afghan interpreters carried our wounded troops off battlefields. As someone who was carried off a battlefield myself, I can tell you that the phrase “we do not leave a fallen comrade behind” is indelibly marked on my psyche.

We owe them.

And not only that -- America’s word is on the line. How are we ever going to go into a future conflict and ask people on the ground to help us if we don't take care of our interpreters now?

This is the right thing to do. It’s the only way to build and preserve trust in America’s promises. We have to take them too.

All my best,

Tammy Duckworth
