Can you chip in $10 to help me replace Andy Harris and represent MD-01 in Congress? Because, honestly, sometimes I wonder whose side Andy Harris is on. secure.actblue.com/donate/2107-q3-dh?refcode=210726-email
He’s certainly not on the side of law enforcement officers. He has refused to acknowledge the seriousness of the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, in which 140 police officers were injured and one died. He said “there was no indication that this was a truly violent protest, as violent as one as you would worry about.” He even voted against awarding Congressional Gold Medals to police officers who protected the Capitol during that assault.
He's not on the side of first responders. He voted “no” to extend a victim compensation fund for 9/11 first responders.
He’s not on the side of our military. He voted against the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act which gave pay raises to our soldiers. He also voted against the Deborah Sampson Act to provide increased access to the Department of Veterans Affairs medical care for women veterans.
He’s not on the side of our democratic allies abroad. On numerous occasions he has expressed support for Hungarian dictator Victor Orban, whose anti-democratic actions have been denounced by our European allies. And he voted against recognizing the mass extermination of Armenians under the Ottoman Empire, thereby giving support to the autocratic government of Turkey.
One has to wonder: Is Andy Harris on the side of our national security? Or would Andy Harris rather see a world run by autocratic dictators, where democratic institutions are under attack, mob violence is the norm, and people who defend the rule of law are their targets?
If this is ringing true to you, consider chipping in today to help send me to Washington so I can fight for YOU.
I’m on America’s side. I have represented U.S. interests in diplomatic hot spots for most of my professional career. I believe in our democracy, our institutions, and the rule of law, and I support the people who protect and defend them. I don’t want to cozy up to dictators; I want to see Democracy prevail. I want an America that can be an example to the world of self-government by the people, compromise between political adversaries, and respect for the rule of law. I think that’s what most Americans want and are proud to stand on and with that side.
So I ask again: Whose side is Andy Harris on?
