Dear John,

Climate change has come to Oregon, and the consequences are quickly unfurling around us--last month’s deadly heatwave, the massive wildfires in Southern Oregon, the dead zones spreading along the Oregon coast, the ongoing droughts across the state. We’re doing our part to address the climate crisis at the state level, but it won’t be enough unless the whole country is in this together. We’re simply running out of time.

That why it’s so important to support new opportunities for clean energy, jobs, and justice that are currently moving at the national level. You can learn about the ongoing fight for national-level climate action--and how you can help--at our upcoming virtual town hall with climate champion Senator Jeff Merkley. We hope you’ll join us!

OLCV Virtual Town Hall with Senator Jeff Merkley
Date: Monday, August 16th
Time: 4pm
Location: Zoom (the link will be emailed out a few days before the event)
RSVP here and submit your questions for Senator Merkley: [link removed]

Senator Merkley is fighting to help the U.S. build back better post-pandemic by investing in clean energy, jobs, and justice. The Senate will be voting soon on a bipartisan infrastructure proposal that will be a good starting point in addressing the climate crisis. But there’s still more work to do. Another key plan would invest $3.5 trillion in clean energy, taking the U.S. to 100% clean energy by 2035, while also creating good-paying union jobs and directing at least 40% of the benefits to communities most affected by climate change.

Senator Merkley will talk to you about this vision for the future, update us on how things are going in Washington D.C., and answer audience questions. Make sure to RSVP today to receive updates and submit your own questions for Senator Merkley!

Hope to see you there,
Lindsey Scholten
Deputy Director, OLCV
