The end of the month is going to be here before we know it, and that means another crucial fundraising deadline is approaching.

I want to talk about one of the key issues our state is facing and how this campaign can change it, but before I do, can you chip in $5 or $10 to help us hit our July fundraising goal by this Saturday at midnight?

This past school year, teachers across the state of Iowa went above and beyond to ensure our children were taught despite the unprecedented challenges brought on by the pandemic. But they’re going to be faced with another challenge this year.

You see, Iowa has only given out 2% of the $195M we were allocated in Federal rent aid. The state is not dispersing funds fast enough to folks who are going to be facing eviction as of August 1, or to landlords who are racking up debt of sometimes $100,000 because they’re not getting the relief that our state has the funding on hand for.

This is going to have a huge impact on students heading into the classroom this August, because if you don’t have a place to live, it’s hard to learn. It’s hard for educators to teach students who don’t know where they’re going to sleep at night. We can do better.

We can chart a new path and finally address this ongoing issue, but we have to hit our fundraising goals and continue to build a movement for change.

With that in mind, can I count on you to make a contribution of $10 or more to fuel this grassroots campaign so we can reach our July goal and keep up the fight?
