Dear John,
It may be summer, but we haven’t slowed down at the Ms. Foundation. Quite the opposite. We continue to help lead a national conversation about the progress and action we want to see in philanthropy. Recently, we signed onto an open letter in solidarity with the Groundswell Fund and other people of color-led, movement-accountable foundations to lift up the role we play as intermediaries, paving a way forward towards gender and racial justice.
At the Ms. Foundation we do this by listening to the leadership of women and girls of color, developing innovative funding models, and supporting capacity building and self-determination, which is challenging the “norm” and creating more space for social change. Our liberation is bound to one another’s, and the surest way to freedom is to follow, and fund, those who know the way. And there is so much more to come.
