Hi Friend --

With a few days left in our summer fundraising drive, I wanted to check in and see if there was any way we could help you in your efforts and send you some resources to make a last push, if you’re up for it.

First, I wanted to give you some talking points about why our work matters that you can share with your friends, family and network:

- The risk of nuclear weapons use is higher than ever, even as our world faces other extremely difficult challenges that only compound the risk. Yet the 9 nuclear armed states found it acceptable to spend $72.6 billion on their nuclear arsenals in 2020, in the middle of a global pandemic;

- ICAN campaigners are achieving results all around the world, from the new countries joining the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), to banks citing the TPNW's entry into force as a reason to exclude nuclear weapons from their investments, to cities and elected officials calling on their governments to join the treaty;

- The nuclear-armed states have noticed the changes the TPNW is already bringing about, so they've been ramping up the pressure against the treaty, both in public and through shady behind-the-scenes practices. ICAN doesn’t have the kind of financial resources these states and their allies do, but we do have a broad, effective and loud movement that is changing public opinion and the norms around nuclear weapons.

I also wanted to point you to our handy guide "Let's Be Realists: Eleven answers to common comments and questions about nuclear weapons." We wrote this guide to tackle some of the most common - and infuriating - misconceptions about nuclear disarmament that we hear in our work, in case you’re running into some discussions there. You can download the booklet here <[link removed]>.  Or if you’d prefer to read a list of 5 reasons to donate to ICAN, we have that too! <[link removed]>

Below this email, I’m also sharing some images you could use to accompany your messages, since images speak louder than words and can help spark a conversation. But honestly, the most important thing when asking people you know to support a cause with you, is to tell them in your own words why you care, so in this case explain why banning nuclear weapons is important to you and of course that you send them your personal fundraiser link, so we know they came through you. Here it is again, so you can copy-paste into any email, sms or social media post 👇:

We really appreciate the time you’ve taken to help us so far! And of course, after July 31st, we’ll be reaching out to our super star fundraisers who managed to raise more than CHF150 to send them an ICAN t-shirt.

Thank you for all you do for this campaign!

Best,

It’s time to end nuclear weapons.
