Last weekend, right-wing zealots Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene got together for a rally in California, where Greene told their supporters to “keep fighting in the streets.”

She was the first to call for physical attacks. But Matt Gaetz kept up the dog whistle, telling supporters, “We will take this fight to them in the courts, in the halls of Congress and, if necessary, in the streets.”

These people are dangerous. Greene's anti-vaccine rhetoric is costing lives every day, and Gaetz's temper tantrum over critical race theory has launched a widespread conservative attack on public schools. And Gaetz and Greene are thriving on the attention and the conflict. They're raising unprecedented amounts of cash and riling up their supporters. And we know they aren't making empty threats when they say they'll take their fight to the streets -- we've already seen their supporters attack the Capitol once.

It's about time we reminded these wannabe autocrats that they live in a democracy. They seem to have forgotten that they can't get whatever they want through brute force.

Team, we're not going to mince words here: Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene are completely despicable and incredibly dangerous. And cheering crowds are hanging on their every word.

Let's remind Gaetz and Green what democracy looks like. Defeating them and their imitators on election day will require a consolidated grassroots movement -- starting now. If we let them stay in office, their fearmongering will only escalate. We have to stand up to fascism wherever we find it in the United States. We have to support the progressives who will unseat them.
