Right now, House Democrats are urging the Biden Administration to support expanding access to Medicare by lowering the age threshold from 65 to 60 and expanding coverage to hearing, vision, and dental. Just under 25% of Montanans are enrolled in Medicare. We already have a program that allows folks under 65 to qualify for Medicare if they have a disability, and lowering the age threshold by five years across the board would be a major benefit for our state.
