Voting rights are under attack, and the window of time we have to take action on climate change is dwindling. The majority of Americans support legislation to expand the right to vote and address climate change -- it should be easy to pass legislation that the people want.

But thanks to the filibuster, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Democrats have razor thin majorities in both chambers of Congress -- and the filibuster virtually ensures that any bill will need a 60-vote supermajority to pass in the Senate.

Without a supermajority, the bill can be filibustered -- and Republicans continue to demonstrate that they will abuse the filibuster to block progressive legislation.

GOP Senators don’t have the courage to cross party lines to do what’s right and give Democrats the votes they need. If we ever hope to pass legislation to protect the right to vote, create a green economy, or make healthcare more affordable, we’ve got to end the filibuster for good.
