John, your personal story matters. For too long, the climate crisis has been framed by mainstream media as something impersonal, something that will only impact future generations, and something out of our control. That is simply not true: climate impacts are affecting real people and communities across the world, and we not only can, but must, address them now. Scary headlines and reports won’t change the narrative, but your story will — and it can move people to action.

We need to shift the focus away from the "objective reports" by mainstream media to the real, lived experiences of people, and how the climate crisis has become a part of our daily lives. That's why we're asking you to share your story with us so we can use it as a force for good, to inspire others to take (and demand!) climate action, and to turn these events from just a headline or fact into something that remains. We will amplify it on social media and on our storytelling portal, and we will follow up with you to provide additional tools and resources so you can share your story more widely.

Across the country, and all around the world, people are facing extreme weather events at a rate unlike anything we've seen before. Wildfires, droughts, tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding... it gets worse every year.

But here's the thing: climate catastrophes are not a cause for despair; they are a reason for powerful and immediate action.

Staying hopeful and determined in the face of a rapidly escalating climate crisis is hard. But sharing our stories is the first step in creating the meaningful connection we need to inspire others to demand climate action. We can't afford to wait for the media to start telling the real stories of the climate crisis. We need to tell our stories now.
