Friend --
I've got a few pieces of important news to share (be sure to read
to the end), which should only take up a minute or two of your
time.
The first is that I've been called upon to serve on the
Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the
U.S. Capitol. And, despite threats of retribution from my
party's leadership, I've accepted the appointment.
While I've said repeatedly that an Independent Commission, composed
of equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats NOT holding or seeking
office, would be the least political way to discover the full truth,
that effort was blocked by Republican leaders. This Select Committee
is our next best chance to arrive at the truth, and I will do
everything in my power to ensure the process follows the truth
wherever it may lead -- without fear or favor, no matter the political
cost.
I don't kid myself that serving on this committee will make it any
easier to get re-elected -- it will be harder. But, I learned a long
time ago that the path of least resistance is rarely the path of
wisdom, and doing what's easy will rarely make you proud.
We owe it to every American, and to history, to uncover the full
truth of what happened on and before January 6th to help ensure future
generations never have to witness such a horrific day. That
is putting our Country First, and exactly what I vow to do.
And speaking of future generations, please allow a
pivot to a point of personal privilege: I am thrilled to share that
Sofia and I are expecting our first child, a son, in January. His
impending arrival certainly crystallizes for me what we're all working
so hard to do -- hand our kids and grandkids a better country than the
one we inherited, fortified through the noble efforts of reasonable
people of goodwill seeking common ground. That's no easy feat, but
the alternative, ultimately, would be far harder to bear.
If you've read this far, thank you for all you do to bring this
movement to life -- particularly the prayers, encouragement, and
enthusiasm. We couldn't do it without you (and I wouldn't want
to).
Country First,
Adam

podcast episodes up -- the latest with Maricopa County Recorder
