I have big news and since you’re one of our best supporters I wanted to tell
you right away.

 

Let me start off by saying thank you.

 

Because of your support, last night the Ninth Circuit ruled in our favor
affirming that parents, and not Gavin Newsom or faceless bureaucrats, have the
right to decide how best to educate their children.

 

As you may remember, last year, by his own executive fiat California Governor
Gavin Newsom shut down both publicAND private schools across the
states—depriving more than 80% of California students their right to a basic
education.

 

But last night, the Ninth Circuit held that Governor Newsom’s order violated
parents’ Due Process rights to send their kids to private schools.

 

In other words, it was completely unconstitutional for Governor Newsom to
force private schools to close as part of his COVID-19 lockdown order.

 

That is the good news, and we celebrate the significance of the decision.

 

But, as is often the case with good news, there is also bad news.

 

The Ninth Circuit did not give us a full victory as they decided against
vindicating the rights of students attending public schools.

 

So, the fight isn’t over – far from it.

 

And we are committed to carrying this cause across the finish line and
ensuring that this never happens again.

 

Because we believe that ALL kids have a right to a basic education.
