Dear John,
As you know, there is a gaping hole in Medicare that leaves out dental, hearing and vision coverage. And lawmakers need to hear directly from older Americans like you about the critical need to add these crucial, life-changing benefits to this program.
Right now, lawmakers in Congress are working to bring a budget resolution to a vote to expand Medicare to include these critical health care services. This budget bill will not be subject to the filibuster, so all it takes is a simple majority in the Senate — 50 votes — to pass!
But the margin to get this bill passed in Congress is razor-thin — and so we simply cannot afford to lose a single vote.
Today, millions of seniors forgo proper dental, hearing and vision care because they simply can’t afford it. That’s because half of Medicare beneficiaries live on incomes of $29,650 or less. Yet, neglecting this basic care has profound health consequences, which ultimately harms seniors and costs Medicare even more in the long run.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is fighting to stop this important measure at the same time he’s working to keep in place massive tax cuts for the wealthy.
And so we need to make it clear to every lawmaker in Washington, DC that the public wants Medicare expanded. Please ensure your voice is heard in this historic fight by signing our Urgent Petition today!
Sincerely,
