John,
Today is the 12th anniversary of the last time the federal minimum wage was raised. Since then, the cost of living has skyrocketed nationwide but currently 20 states still only require employers to pay their workers $7.25 an hour. This isn't enough.
Kim has been fighting in Congress to raise the federal minimum wage because she believes that you shouldn't have to work multiple jobs to put food on the table or afford medical care. In 2019, she helped pass the Raise the Wage Act to increase the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025, but it was blocked by Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell.
John -- families can't afford to wait any longer for a minimum wage increase. Will you add your name now to join Kim in the fight to raise the federal minimum wage?
In 2016, Washington State voters passed an initiative to raise the minimum wage every year until 2020 with cost of living adjustments each year after that. We currently have the third-highest minimum wage nationwide, helping countless families across the state earn the living wage they deserve.
But we can't stop there. Kim's fighting to raise the federal minimum wage to ensure that everyone, in every state, is paid a living wage -- but she needs to know you have her back.
If you agree it's past time we raise the federal minimum wage, add your name now to stand with Kim.
Thanks,
Team Schrier
