Nearly 400 voter suppression bills have been introduced in state legislatures around the country. Republican legislators are using Trump’s Big Lie about the 2020 election to try to pass bills to suppress the vote.
In Texas, Republican state legislators have introduced bills to take away voting rights, particularly targeting communities of color in the state. Senate Republicans rammed through legislation that would remove polling locations from communities of color, allow poll watchers to take video of voters casting ballots, give judges the power to overturn the results of elections with alleged fraud, and effectively end ‘Souls to the Polls’ voting drives that are especially popular in Black churches.
That’s why Texas Democrats taking a stand is so important! Not only are they showing the entire country that Democrats MUST stand up and fight back to protect voting rights, they’re lobbying Members of Congress in Washington, DC to pass S1, the For the People Act, and SAVE our democracy!
