A lot has happened since July 24, 2009:
Mitt Romney unsuccessfully ran for president, again.
The Supreme Court struck down part of the Defense of Marriage Act in 2013, setting the stage for their eventual ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges that made marriage equality the law of the land in 2015.
The Seattle Seahawks won their first Super Bowl in 2014.
And Pramila became the first South Asian American woman to be elected to the House of Representatives!
Unfortunately, there’s something that hasn’t happened yet: Raising the federal minimum wage from $7.25/hour to at least $15/hour. In fact, the minimum wage hasn’t budged even one cent in 12 years!
At a time when full-time, minimum-wage workers can no longer afford a two-bedroom rental anywhere in the entire country, our inaction is inexcusable. It’s time to raise the wage. And with Pramila’s leadership in helping to make Seattle the first major city in America to enact a $15 minimum wage years ago, we can make it so across America.
On this day marking the last time we raised the federal minimum wage, can you chip in $3 or whatever you can afford to help power Pramila’s work to fight for and deliver a living wage? Your donation sends a powerful message that our movement isn’t backing down:
In solidarity,
Team Jayapal
