NBC NEWS: “A federal judge in Texas … declared illegal the federal program that has allowed nearly 800,000 young people brought to the United States illegally as children to avoid deportation and remain in the country.”
The GOP has been attacking DREAMers ever since Obama created the DACA program in 2012. Donald Trump promised he'd end DACA and deport every DREAMer in the country -- and he failed. But now a federal judge in Texas wants to do the attacking for him.
DREAMers were brought to this country as children. They contribute millions in federal taxes every year. They are essential workers and health care providers. They are our neighbors, friends, and co-workers. This is their home, and it's past time DREAMers feel safe in this country.
Biden has made it clear that this new ruling cannot go unanswered. “I have repeatedly called on Congress to pass the American Dream and Promise Act, and I now renew that call with the greatest urgency,” he said. Well, we're also renewing our calls. Congress MUST ACT.
The GOP has spent the past four years attacking DREAMers, terrorizing immigrant communities, and turning Americans on each other. We need to make it clear that we're moving our country forward, and EVERYONE deserves a seat at the table.
